Beauty Masterclass: Left Bank Beauty
Back in March, renowned make-up artist Val Garland envisioned a dramatic smoky eye for Autumn/Winter 2013 at Roland Mouret using products from Nars, a Liberty beauty hall favourite. Here, with the help of our own Nars make-up artists and some of our other go-to brands, we show you how to re-create the look.
Eyes are the focus for this smoky look, so keep everything else neutral to avoid make-up overkill.
Start with your closest shade in NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser and then add NARS Optimel Brightening Concentrate along the cheekbones and under the eyebrows for a fresh, dewy glow. Finally, add some natural colour to the cheeks with NARS The Multiple Stick, making sure to choose a subtle shade that matches your skin tone.
Draw along your natural lash line with NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in your chosen shade (we recommend Aigle Noir for a hint of evening shimmer.) Continue the line out and beyond the corners of the eye, and then smudge inwards to create the shaded effect on the lids. For greater depth of colour, gently sweep a tiny amount of NARS Eyeshadow along the line you created and smudge inwards, then out towards the temples. Trish McEvoy’s Eye Definer allows for crease-resistant layering so you can build up the look gradually. Finish with Larger than Life Lengthening Mascara.
