Master milliner Stephen Jones has collaborated with footwear connoisseur Manolo Blahnik to craft the ultimate shoe lovers headpiece.
Jones has brought one of Manolo Blahnik’s sketches to life, creating a one off incredible hat. The iconic design is reminiscent of Elsa Schiaparelli’s famous surrealist shoe hat, brought into the 21st century in the shape of an elegant Manolo pump, signature Stephen Jones top hat brim and Manolo Blahnik for Liberty Print lining. This felt hat has been designed to fit all head sizes.
Despite being friends for thirty years, this is the first time the two have worked together and with great success. Stephen’s artistic wit and penchant for elegant design pays tribute to one of the best known and loved shoe designers of our time.

Nicholas Kirkwood will be in store to showcase his SS11 collection, allowing shoppers to get their hands on his highly covetable shoes an entire season early. Like wearable works of art, Kirkwood’s shoes are an accessory you won’t want to do without. He will also be signing sketches of his designs as you sip from complimentary Tanqueray drinks and browse your way through an abundance of fanciful footwear.
Friday 26th November
2nd Floor, from 3pm
Personal appearance from designer Raphael Young, famed for his attention to detail and traditional technique. Young hand makes each prototype in its entirety, including carving each carefully sculpted heel. He will be sketching and demonstrating his processes live in store.
2nd Floor, 6-8pm
We’ll be serving up delicious complimentary Tanqueray cocktails to the sounds of DJ Sloanie’s top tunes, plus join in a shoe master class from the Sloane Rangers: drag performance artist Johnny Woo, east London scene queen Jeanette and show girl Gwendoline Christie. Find out how to disco dance in wobbling wedges, walk a catwalk in six inch stilettos and hail a taxi in towering platforms.
Lower Ground Floor, 5-7pm
In the men’s department shoppers will have the opportunity to meet Mr Hare, an independent British company behind some of the finest quality, handcrafted Italian shoes currently gracing the men’s shoe hall. Enjoy a complimentary drink and shop the SS11 collection, available for pre-order all weekend.
Also on the lower ground Steven, one half of menswear blog Style Savage and Mr Hare will answer your questions and offer advice.
Saturday 27th November
Lower Ground Floor, From Midday
T&F Slack Shoemakers will be in the men’s shoe hall to host a live workshop during which they will demonstrate shoe lasting and production.
2nd Floor, 2-4pm
Meet Rupert Sanderson in the women’s shoe hall, who’ll be signing shoes and giving away free sketches with purchases from his collection. Sanderson designs classic shoes, avoiding overly embellishment styles and focusing on flattering and seductive shapes.
At 2.30 and 3.30pm he will be live in conversation with Vogue Editor at Large, Fiona Golfar.
Sunday 28th November

He came, he saw, he signed. The legendary Manolo Blahnik was in residence at Liberty last night as he celebrated the launch of his beautiful book, ‘Manolo’s New Shoes’. Fans queued around the block for meet with the designer, who stayed until 10pm (an extra two hours) to ensure that no one left dissapointed.
Manolo was a true gentleman – posing for pictures with his many admirers and signing just about everything – from his iconic shoes to tote bags and scarves. If you were sadly unable to attend last night don’t panic – as part of Vogue Fashion’s Night In, Liberty will be offering a limited signed edition of ‘Manolo’s New Shoes’ while stocks last. Visit the Fashion Night In section on 1st November to get your hands on one.
