Tree of
Life Scarves

The stunning Tree of Life design is one of our bestselling scarves and a true piece to treasure. A symbol of fertility, the flowering “Tree of Life” is based on traditional Persian design with its exotic fruits, flowers and creatures. This design has been a classic Liberty scarf since 1976. In its latest incarnation, Tree of Life is deconstructed in the style of a collage as part of the Art of the Scarf collection.

Originally a wallpaper design by a French artist in 1902, Ianthe was first printed by Liberty in 1967 as a dress fabric. One of Liberty’s most popular prints, the design is a typical example of French Art Nouveau with its highly stylised flowers in a swirling layout. The design was reworked in 2012 emphasising its rich and decorative feeling. Re-worked for the Art of the Scarf collection, Ianthe was 'thrown' against an atrist's canvas.

Credited to Arthur Silver, the founder of the Silver Studio, in 1887 and first printed by Liberty furnishing fabrics in the mid 1890s, Hera has been a popular favourite in the Liberty range ever since. The peacock feather was a frequently used symbol of the Aesthetic Movement of the 1880s, and in 2012 additional colours and extra feathers were added to enhance the rich and opulent feeling of the design. Our latest Hera design includes de-coloured sections to give the impression of a work of art in progress.
