Experience a new level of luxury. On October 4th Frédéric Malle will open his first boutique Editions de Parfums exclusively in Liberty’s beauty department.
Inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona pavilion, the boutique has been designed by Malle himself. As with the other Editions de Parfums boutiques, the space will exhibit nine striking black and white portraits of the perfumers who have collaborated with Frédéric Malle to create his fragrance collection. Four innovative Scent columns will be installed to allow customers to have a true sensory impression of the olfactory trail they leave behind when wearing the fragrance.
At a time when fine perfume seems to be superseded by the mass market products of the big beauty houses, Editions de Parfums bucks the trend. “Perfumes without compromise” is its slogan and that holds true for each of its fragrances. Eight years ago Frédéric Malle asked the world’s best and most respected ‘noses’ to each create their own fragrance; each perfumer was given complete creative freedom and a full credit (each bottle has the perfumer’s name written on the label). The result is a collection of seventeen exceptional, luxurious fragrances created by names that are renowned throughout the perfurme world, from Pierre Bourdon, considered one of the most innovative perfumers of his generation, to Edmond Roudnitska, widely considered the pioneer of modern perfumery and one of the greatest ‘noses’ of all time.
The nephew of film director Louis Malle, Frédéric Malle views himself as the “editor” of a small, rarified collection. Like any successful editor, his role alters according to the needs and personality of his authors – with some fragrances, he is completely hands off, while with others, he is co-author. The result is a carefully curated collection that reflects the diversity and imagination of its creator, yet is unified by the guiding hand of Malle.
At the time that the boutique opens in Liberty, Malle will also launch a new fragrance, created by Maurice Roucel, creator of the iconic perfume Musc Ravageur. Entitled “Dans Tes Bras”. (“In Your Arms”) and created to evoke an understated sensuality, the new perfume promises to be as highly regarded as its sibling scent, with a composition of Bergamot, Clove, Violet, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Incense, Cashmeran, Heliotrope and White Musk.
