Price per workshop: £50 per person, including morning and afternoon coffee.

Saturday 20th February
Spring into Colour with Sarah Hazell
This workshop looks at the influences behind the colour trends for the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. It is a chance to work with new yarns and understand how and why certain colours work together. There will also be opportunities to create mood boards, try out different colour combinations as well as practice different colour work techniques. Participants should bring along a range of needles ranging from 3.25mm-5.00mm, scissors and a sewing up needle. The workshop will be swatch based, but will also include some ideas for small projects, prior to tackling a garment.

Triple Triangles. Learning to Make a Scrap Quilt with Janet Goddard
A patchwork workshop where students will make a vibrant quilt constructed from blocks containing triangles in 3 sizes – small, medium and large. The blocks are stitched together to create several secondary patterns.
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate ¼” seam on the sewing machine.

Embroidered and Embellished Bag Workshop. Perfect pressies for much loved Mums with Charlotte Liddle
If you’re stuck for ideas on what to buy your mum for mothers day - what could be more thoughtful than a gorgeous handmade bag? Come along and join this workshop, tutor Charlotte Liddle will guide you step by step through the process of making a simple gusseted bag and inspire you with ideas about how to embellish it with floral decorations, appliqué, embroidery, beading and sequins.
Saturday 13th March
Learn to Crochet with Sarah Hazell
This workshop is aimed at the absolute beginner or someone who has not crocheted for a long time and needs a refresher. The day covers holding the hook and yarn as well as the basic stitches (Foundation chain, double crochet, treble crochet) needed to complete a simple project. Both crocheting in rows and rounds are covered. Each attendee should end the day having completed a number of small samples by following a very simple pattern that should enable them to move on to their first project.
The attendees need to bring 4mm/3.5mm crochet hooks if they have them already. All yarn will be provided along with some basic reference notes that they can take home. A number of small project patterns will also be provided for practice during and after the workshop. A pair of scissors would also be useful.

Learn to Sew with Jenny Stilwel
The workshop aims to cover the basics of sewing and to give participants the confidence to go on to follow simple Amy Butler patterns.
You will learn all the skills necessary to complete a small tote bag on the day. You will be given guidance on adapting the tote bag pattern to include a lining, which can then be made at home.
This workshop will include guidance on:
- Cutting out paper patterns and fabrics; what do all the symbols mean?
- How to read a pattern
- Using a Sewing machine; getting started, threading it up, sewing in a straight line, how to control fabric when sewing
- Hand sewing a hem
- Top Stitching

Home is where the Heart is – Patchwork with Janet Goddard
A pretty patchwork project which would be ideal to stitch as a gift for someone special. This project can be finished as a cushion or small wall hanging and features hearts, blanket stitch appliqué, patchwork piecing and hand stitchery. Students will complete the project using a combination of machine and hand stitching.

Knitting with Texture with Emma King
In her books ’25 Bags to Knit’, ’25 More Bags to Knit’ and ‘Fun and Funky Knitting’ Emma uses a variety of textured stitches such as cables, bobbles, simple lace and beads to create her designs. In this workshop you will learn how to work these techniques whilst creating the front panel of a pretty knitted cushion. You will have the chance to try all the techniques mentioned or can try just one or two if you prefer.
Participants will need to bring the following:
- A pair of 4mm needles
- Cable needle
- Sewing up needle
- A couple of stitch holders (optional)
Knitting ability: This course is suitable for those knitters who have knowledge of the basic techniques
Saturday 17th April
Learn to Knit with Amy Hall
This is an introduction to knitting. This workshop will show you how to cast on and cast off, how to knit and purl and how to use these to create garter and stocking stitch. You also will try simple rib and moss-stitch borders.
At the end of this course, you will be able to knit at a basic but confident level, have the skills you need to start a project right away and have started to learn to love knitting and want to do more!
Saturday 24th April
Moving on from Learn to Sew with Stephanie Vickers
The workshop aims to move on from the ‘Learn to Sew’ workshop and to develop the skills of those who have mastered the basics, giving participants a greater confidence with sewing by expanding on their skill base. This will enable the participant to feel confident in choosing from a broader range of the Amy Butler sewing patterns.
The skills covered on the day will give all the technical information necessary to begin dressmaking, with the ‘Barcelona skirt’ being an obvious first choice.
This workshop will include guidance on:
- Making a lining and hand finishing it in place
- How to make a button hole and keep it neat
- Putting in a Zip
- Using interfacing

Intermediate Patchwork with Janet Goddard
This workshop is ideal for those of you who have learned the basics in patchwork and would to like to learn some further techniques. We will explore a variety of skills and students will make blocks using foundation piecing, stained glass technique, and more complex machine piecing.

Moving on from Learn to Crochet with Sarah Hazell
A workshop aimed at those who have mastered the basic stitches. This project based workshop teaches basic crochet shaping, (simple increases and decreases), as well as working in the round. You will also learn how to embellish your work with beads, sequins and flowers. Participants should bring along a 3.00mm, 3.25mm crochet hook, sewing up needle and scissors.

Learn Basic Millinery skills with Mary-Jane Baxter- £75
Learn basic millinery skills and make yourself a beautiful summer hat at this one day workshop. You’ll be guided by quirky retro-style milliner Mary- Jane Baxter who’s known for her vintage-inspired designs based on textile techniques. Using a circular black and cream base you’ll be shown how to create a softly brimmed hat adorned with Liberty trim. You will also make a beautiful corsage to compliment your design. Basic sewing skills are all you’ll need to take part. All materials will be supplied. Please note that this class is £75 and that there are only 15 places available.
