Saturday 4th September
Introduction to Patchwork with Janet Goddard
An introduction to patchwork. Students will learn how to cut fabrics using a rotary cutter and ruler and then machine piece blocks. Lots of tips and techniques will be included to start you on your patchwork journey. A number of blocks will be taught which will form the beginnings of a quilt.

Multimedia stitching with Charlotte Liddel
If you are bored of working traditional embroidery with a needle and thread then this workshop is for you. Textile designer/maker and tutor Charlotte Liddle will demonstrate a range of contemporary textile techniques from heat transfer printing to stitching onto paper. This multi-media workshop will give you opportunity to play around with plastics, newspaper, gift wrap, fabrics, snippets of text, buttons, beads, dyes, paints, soluble fabric and much more.

Useful techniques for new season knitting with Sarah Hatton
Rowan magazine 48 is full to the brim with texture and cables. In this workshop we will learn more about these techniques to help you feel more confident with your new project.
Saturday 25th September
Learn to Knit with Margaret Rowan
This workshop is designed for the complete beginner or for those who are returning to knitting and wish to brush up on existing skills. By the end of the day you will have the confidence and ability to move on to the first of many projects and will have learnt the basic skills to take you on an exciting, creative journey.
During the day we will cover:
• Casting on using the cable method
• How to hold the needles and yarn
• Knit and purl stitches
• Ribs and basic ground stitches
• Increasing and decreasing
• Casting off
• Introduction to abbreviations and reading patterns.
Saturday 2nd October
Crochet Patchwork with Jane Crowfoot
The craft of crochet lends itself beautifully to the production of small pieces which can be stitched or crocheted together to create exciting pieces of crochet patchwork.
This workshop is aimed at those who already have a good knowledge of crochet stitches and can read a crochet pattern. Participants will learn how to design and make a few of their own motifs which will then be put together to create a small patchwork sample.
Participants will be shown how to add beads and sequins to their work, how to make bobbles and how to do a few essential finishing techniques.
Please bring along notebook and pen/pencil, some scissors, a knitters sewing needle and a 3mm crochet hook.
Saturday 9th October
Freeform Madness with Heike Gittins
Let your imagination run free! Spend the day making ‘scrumbles’ and then assemble them into your very own wall hanging, bag or whatever you want them to be. All you need to bring are knitting needles/ crochet hooks and any yarn that you might want to work into your creation. Ribbon, beads and buttons are also a good idea.
This day is very free flowing and all skill levels are very welcome.

Learn to Sew with Margaret Rowan
The workshop aims to cover the basics of sewing and to give participants the confidence to go on to follow simple Amy Butler patterns.
You will learn all the skills necessary to complete a small tote bag on the day.

Patchwork Christmas Table Runner with Janet Goddard
Stitch a festive table runner in time for Christmas using machine piecing and a little appliqué. This table runner features pieced Christmas stars surrounded with some appliquéd holly leaves. The runner is completed in a red and green colour way. This class is suitable for those students who can use a sewing machine and a rotary cutter and ruler.

Knitted Christmas Stockings with Sarah Hazell
This workshop is aimed at knitters of average ability who would like to learn a few more skills whilst creating a festive stocking. During the course of the day you will have the opportunity to try three different designs and practice skills like beading, slipstitch colour work, cabling and loop stitch. You will also learn how to follow a chart, work different shaping techniques, join pieces using a double crochet seam and how to make and attach frills.
Participants should bring along a pair of 4mm knitting needles and a 4mm crochet hook, scissors and sewing up needle.

Moving on from Learn to Sew with Jenny Stilwell
The workshop aims to move on from the ‘Learn to Sew’ workshop and to develop the skills of those who have mastered the basics, giving participants a greater confidence with sewing by expanding on their skill base.
The skills covered on the day while making the cushion cover will give all the technical information necessary to begin dressmaking, with the Amy Butler ‘Barcelona skirt’ being an obvious first choice.
You will produce a cushion cover, which you may also have the chance to embellish with embroidery.

Moving on from Learn to Knit, Christmas Theme, with Emma King
This workshop will help you to take the next step after learning how to knit to learning how to read a pattern, understanding tension, yarns, creating basic shaping and buttonholes. You will also look at how to introduce a second colour to your knitting and will have a go at working in stripes whilst creating a small festive project.

Learn to Crochet, Christmas themed with Margaret Rowan
This workshop is designed for the complete beginner or for those who are returning to crochet and wish to brush up on existing skills. By the end of the day you will have the confidence and ability to move on to some easy but decorative festive projects and will have learnt the basic skills to take you on an exciting, creative journey.
During the day we will cover:
How to hold your hook and yarn
Create a chain
Work a foundation row into the chain
Slip stitch, double crochet and trebles
Spirals
Granny squares
Basic pattern reading
Easy flower corsage

Millinery Christmas themed with Mary-Jane Baxter
Sparkle in the snow with a beautiful handcrafted headband or fabulous fascinator. Using glittering trims and a variety of fabrics and ribbons, you'll create something special and unique which will doubtless win you a kiss under the mistletoe! Vintage-style milliner and craft writer Mary Jane Baxter will guide you through some simple techniques to help you produce eye-catching results. You'll wish winter was here already!
